Alex Petrou “He is just an ordinary man, doing extraordinary things.” Alex Petrou (Petrou) is a Co-Founder and the Executive Operations Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility Agency, Seed of Thought. He is also a youth worker, ex college athlete, keen adventurer and humanitarian.
2010 Unite for a Change –
In November 2010, Petrou participated in Seed of Thought’s personal challenge fundraiser titled “Unite for a Change”. Commencing in Brisbane and ending in Cairns, Petrou walked 1700km’s in 29 days to raise money for children in Australia with cancer (Camp Quality), and for a small orphanage in Cambodia (Sunrise Children’s Village).
2011 Kokoda Elite Trail -
On April 1st 2011 Petrou left for the infamous 96 kilometer Kokoda trail in a Seed of Thought project designed to inspire and raise money for 3 local Far North Queensland girls, who had each recently undergone life saving brain tumor surgery. On April 4th with only 3 hours sleep and both physically and mentally exhausted Petrou walked in to Kokoda, his time – an astounding 64 hours.
2011 – Street Dreams Project –
September 2011 brings Alex and the Seed of Thought team to their first International action based awareness campaign, where they are advocating for youth homelessness – Street Dreams Project. A 5000km cycle from Los Angeles, California, across the U.S.A. Passing through Washington D.C before finishing in New York City, Petrou will aim to complete this challenge in just 48 days. Throughout this journey Petrou will sacrifice a normal nights accommodation, instead coordinating with his team to stay at either youth homeless shelters or couch surf, to experience the issue of homelessness first hand.
In the lead up to Street Dreams Project on top of his regular training regime Petrou will be participating in the following events to strengthen himself mentally and physically:
