“Do you think you would of have had the same dreams, if you grew up homeless?”
Alex Smith – Gold Coast United (A-League)
“Yes I believe I would have grown up with the same dreams. They are ingrained in us as individuals. Perhaps I would’ve worked harder to get there??…absolutely”.
Zenon Caravella – Adelaide United (A-League)
“I think had I grown up homeless I would of dreamt of having a loving, supportive family, somewhere to sleep at night and being able to eat whenever and whatever I wanted. Having grown up with all of these things I believe I was in a very fortunate position to be able to chase my dreams. So definitely not! My dreams and opportunities would of been very different”.
Aaron Grabau – Cairns Taipans (NBL)
“If I was homeless my dreams would be a lot different. For one thing I don’t thing I’d have enough time to follow my basketball dream because I’d be to worried about where I was getting my next meal or where I was going to sleep that night and if it was safe. I think being homeless would have made it very hard to reach my dreams and goals in life”.
Nate Myles – Sydney Roosters/ Queensland/ Australia (NRL)
“I think I would have had the same dreams growing up to play rugby league at a high level, no matter where or how I grew up. Obviously I was fortunate enough to be presented with great opportunities to get into football at a young age in my area but in saying that I believe you make your own luck and no matter your situation everyone can have the same dream. Its not where you start its where you finish”.
Kelecia O’Brien – Model/ Dancer and Entertainer (Moulin Rouge – PARIS)
“I believe the answer would be no… instead I’d say my dream would most likely be to have a home, a family and food on the table. Doing what I do now was a dream formed through many years of dance training. I would only assume being homeless wouldn’t allow luxuries like that hence changing many of my life long goals.”
